Ultimate gray and illuminating, the pantone colors of 2021

TWO DIFFERENT COLORS DICTATE THIS YEAR'S STYLE

Keeping up with the times is important, especially in interior design! In 2021 there are two trendy colors chosen by Pantone: the combination of Ultimate Gray (Pantone 17-5104) and Illuminating Yellow (Pantone 13-0647).

A certainly original and refined combination that ignites hope and conveys the desire to leave a difficult period behind. Illuminating, bright and cheerful yellow, instills positivity and warmth, while Ultimate Gray recalls concrete and reliable elements over time. In this article from the eenterior magazine we give you some practical advice on how to match the Pantone colors of 2021.

Who chooses the Pantone Color of the Year?

The Pantone Color Institute is the commercial division of Pantone that forecasts seasonal color trends and provides advice to companies on the visual identity of the brand and products. In short, true color experts!

Every year, the Pantone Color Institute defines the color of the year, the Pantone Color of the Year. This color influences the products and trends of many sectors, not just furniture: fashion catwalks, product packaging, industrial design and much more.

HOW TO COMBINE THE PANTONE COLORS OF 2021

The choice of two Pantone colors for 2021 is nothing new. Two colors were also chosen in 2016: Rose Quartz (Pantone 13-1520) and Serenity (Pantone 15-3919). But how do you combine two trendy colors? No fear! With the right tips it's easier than it seems.

Illuminating, a lively yellow that infuses light and energy, is the element that stands out in the decor. In this sense the rule of less is more always applies: few hints but in the right places. It can be useful to use it in those environments where we want to stimulate creativity and happiness, such as a playroom. Ultimate Gray is the new white, a gray that reassures and transmits firmness and resilience. It can therefore be a larger part of our furniture, like a wall, because it doesn't tire the eyes and instills tranquility. Other examples? Read on!

YELLOW CHAIRS AND GRAY TABLE

Focusing on a grey table and yellow chairs is a tasteful choice that never ceases to amaze. The yellow color can be recalled in the living room by other elements, such as flowers or vases, which cheer up but without exaggerating.

In the composition in the photo, the Apelle chair by Midj has a minimal but enveloping design. The yellow color of the leather seat is certainly not banal and is recalled by the metal structure of the same shade. The Marcopolo table also by Midj in its extendable version was chosen with the marble-effect crystalceramic top which gives it elegance and practicality.

YELLOW AND GRAY MODULAR SOFA

The modularity of many sofas allows us not only to create customizable solutions in terms of space, but also to play with colours. Sometimes combining multiple shades in the same sofa can be the winning weapon, so don't be afraid to take a risk!

The Air sofa by Lago, for example, definitely challenges all the rules of living, allowing an absolute customization of backrests, seats and armrests: modules that exchange, move away and closer, change appearance and personality!

MATCHING FURNISHING ACCESSORIES

You don't want to dare too much with current trends, but still want chic and fashionable furniture? Why not focus on furnishing accessories, which are easy to position, change and replace. Green light for poufs, cushions, paintings and carpets, obviously integrated into the existing furnishings.

Grey and yellow are colors that pair well with neutral tones or with natural wood, as in the Simja outdoor set by La Forma. The gray carpet in 100% recycled PET combines well with the fabric of the seats and the tablecloth. The Nedra pouffe and cushions instead give that lively and spring touch, making the environment convivial and welcoming. Everything is in harmony with natural elements such as the stone wall and the eucalyptus wood of the sofa, armchair and coffee tables, obviously treated to be preserved outdoors.
